About Us

Hi, I'm Misi
I founded Cherished Pathways Counselling Services to be more than just a practice. It’s a place where you can feel seen, supported, and safe to explore whatever you’re going through. My journey into counselling began with a search for a deeper purpose. After years in the corporate world, I realized that true fulfillment came not from professional success, but from walking alongside others in their most human moments.

With a client-centered and culturally sensitive approach, I’m honoured to support individuals, couples, and families through life’s transitions. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, burnout, or relationship challenges, my work is grounded in compassion, respect, and a deep belief in each person’s ability to heal and grow.
Professionally, I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling from City University of Seattle in Calgary and a Bachelor of Management degree. I’m a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association and a Certified Professional Counsellor (CPC) with the Professional Association of Christian Counsellors and Psychotherapists.

Over the years, I have supported clients across various counselling organizations, working with individuals of all ages. My experience includes providing care in addiction recovery centers, where I currently support young men aged 18 to 28, as well as women navigating mental health challenges during their recovery journeys. These diverse roles have deeply shaped my trauma-informed, culturally responsive approach to counselling.

I specialize in addiction counselling because I believe addiction is not a choice or moral failing—it is a complex disease rooted in pain and disconnection. As Dr. Gabor Maté powerfully states, "The question is not why the addiction, but why the pain?" This perspective guides my commitment to understanding the deeper stories behind each person's struggle and helping them reclaim a sense of agency, healing, and hope.

I’m fluent in both English and Yoruba and welcome people from all backgrounds and walks of life. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or simply need someone to talk to, I’d be honoured to walk with you one step at a time on your cherished path to healing.

Here’s a look at some of the professional training that supports my work:

“When we are not seen, not heard, not understood, and not ‘gotten,’ then we experience a loss of self.”
- Dr. Gabor Maté
